Who we are

The Interagency Market Control Unit (DIMEA) was established on 03-08-2020 by virtue of Law 4712/2020 and is a state mechanism for market control. DIMEA has an expanded mission, both at a coordinating and at an operational level, to deal with illegal trade.
It is an independent Service and reports directly to the Minister of Development. Its main responsibility is to carry out all kinds of checks at every stage of the handling and marketing of products and services, both during production, import, handling, storage, as well as during the disposal of products and the provision of services.
The basic objectives of DIMEA include the protection of consumer safety, the strengthening of honest business practices and the dealing with distortions created in the market by unfair competition.

Vision

The vision of DIMEA is to deal with illicit trade, including illegal e-commerce, and to ensure the orderly and legal operation of the market, for the benefit of the consumer’s protection, healthy entrepreneurship and national economy and security.

Mission

In accordance with the provisions of article 1 of Law 4712/2020, the Interagency for Market Control Unit (DIMEA) constitutes a unified and strong control mechanism, with an emphasis on dealing with illegal trade in products and services.
